Advanced Practicum for Doctoral Psychology Students

Master's and Doctorate level psychotherapists.

Our training program is for advanced practicum doctoral students (year 3 or year 4) who have obtained their master's degree in clinical, counseling, or a related field.

We are looking for talented and experienced relational therapists.

We are looking for students who have experience working with transitional youth and/or adults for at least 1-year, preferably 2+ years and experience providing therapy via telehealth.

Seeking to work with a professional, mental health team.

Please apply if you are relationally or dynamically oriented with your approach to psychotherapy and you are interested in learning about psychoanalytic/psychodynamic theory.

It is paramount that trainees and clients feel psychologically safe. At Insights Psychological Services, having a relational work environment and culture is imperative to us. We will strive to make sure you are supported in the work that you do.

Training Program Structure

2026-2027 academic training year begins July 6th, 2026, and ends July 2nd, 2027.

~24 hrs per week for 12 months (with 5 weeks off including Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years).

Staff meeting, group supervision, and seminars/workshops are held every Wednesday.

Weekly, 1-hour didactic on psychodynamic therapy and theory.

Guest speakers will present throughout the year on pertinent topics (e.g., trauma and grief)

Process-oriented, psychodynamic supervision will be 1-hour 2x/week.

Trainees will learn how to do case conceptualization/formulations using different theories and model

Specific Trainings

Introductions on how to use CBT, DBT, ACT, mindfulness-self compassion, and other therapies.

Trainings will also cover how to help clients who struggle with substance misuse, trauma, and grief.

How to specifically help college students, e.g., nutrition, CBT-I, ADHD, and organizational skills.

Learn about couple therapy and approaches, such as EFT and Gottman.

Behavioral medicine techniques, such as autogenic training.

Mindfulness meditation, diaphragmatic breathing, grounding techniques, and visualization.

A series on Nancy McWilliam's psychoanalytic diagnosis and interventions.

Supplemental reading materials will be provided, i.e., books and articles.

3. Send a picture of your master's degree or unofficial transcripts.

4. Provide 3 letters of recommendation; 1 needs to be from a recent clinical supervisor.

5. Upon receiving your application, you will be sent several pre-interview questions.

Ashley O'Hearn, PsyD

Training Director and Supervisor

Dr. O'Hearn is a clinical psychologist with a passion for teaching, mentoring, and supervising to-be psychologists and mental health professionals. She provides process-oriented, psychodynamic supervision for graduate students. Dr. O'Hearn approaches supervision through a developmental lens and provides warmth, compassion, and provides a safe space for exploring transference and countertransference. She participates in all aspects of the advanced psychology training program, providing individual and group supervision, as well as presenting in seminars and running didactics. 

Stefanie Landau, PsyD

Clinical Consultant

Dr. Stefanie Landau is a clinical psychologist with eight years of clinical experience. Her training and passion in contemporary psychoanalysis guides her work with patients and supervisory style. Dr. Landau serves as a consultant to Insights Psychological Services and participates in the advanced psychology training program, presenting on topics of trauma, parts-work, and eating disorders. She is also designated as a covering supervisor for Dr. O'Hearn.
