Postdoctoral Psychology Fellowship

We are looking for graduates who have experience utilizing a psychodynamic approach with transitional youth and/or adults for at least 2-years, preferably 3+ years as well as experience providing telepsychology. 

Our postdoc psychology fellowship is for those who have obtained a doctorate degree in clinical or counseling psychology. 

We are looking for graduates who are interested in wanting to deepen their understanding of a relational or psychodynamic approach to therapy.

Fellowship Structure

The fellowship will begin July 6, 2026, and end July 2, 2027.

The position is for one year with the potential for staying on as an Advanced Post-Doctorate Fellow.

Total weekly hours range from 35 to 40 hours per week.

To be in line with the most stringent state postdoc requirements, fellows need to work at least 35 hours per week to maintain full-status and cannot work more than 45 hours per week.

Fellows will schedule at least 26 clients/week in order to bill ~22-hours per week.

Fellows will be paid a competitive rate and will receive payment bi-weekly. This compensation will be for all required duties: 

  • Conducting approximately 22 clinical hours of psychotherapy
  • 2 hours of individual supervision
  • .5 hours for staff meeting/admin
  • 1 hour for didactics
  • 1 hour for peer consultation
  • 1 hour for seminar/workshops, 
  • .25 hours for note writing per clinical hour (e.g., 5.5 hours for 22 client hours)
  • 2 hours for readings 
  • 1-hr/month meeting with the business owner. 

Fellows will be considered a W2 employee and receive benefits

  • Employees will receive a monthly reimbursement amount for health care costs (e.g., this reimbursement can go toward premium costs, prescription drug costs, or medical bills). 
  • Will be covered by group malpractice insurance
  • Insights offers assistance with getting an IRA set up. 
  • 11 federal holidays.
  • 4 weeks of time off for sick and mental health days, or vacation.

Supervision requirements

Two hours of individual supervision weekly with a psychodynamic-oriented psychologist (will be conducted over a HIPAA compliant platform). 

Trainings

  • Participate in didactics for 1-hour/week: discussions on contemporary psychodynamic therapy and other psychoanalytic theories.
  • Participate in seminars/workshops for 1-hour/week: seminars include discussions on clinical topics that are pertinent to working in a private practice. Workshops are lecture-based presentations and guest speakers will also present throughout the year on evidence-based topics (e.g., trauma, grief, sex therapy, etc.). 

Leadership Opportunities

  • Fellows will have opportunity for leadership by observing advanced practicum students' presentations and providing constructive feedback. 
  • Fellows will have the opportunity to present/teach on a topic of their choosing in seminar. 

Specific Trainings

Learning fundamental skills in contemporary psychodynamic therapy and how to implement it

Diversity, cultural humility, and how to conceptualize cases through a multicultural lens.

Trainings will cover how to help clients who struggle with substance misuse, trauma, and grief

Learn about couple therapy and approaches, such as EFT and sex therapy.

Behavioral medicine techniques, such as autogenic training.

Mindfulness meditation, diaphragmatic breathing, grounding techniques, and visualization.

A series on Nancy McWilliam's psychoanalytic diagnosis and interventions.

Supplemental reading materials will be provided, i.e., books and articles.
